For challenges involving
industrial control or process optimization, ThinkFirst offers complete project
engineering and design -- all disciplines necessary to troubleshoot or solve
your industrial problem. We offer our creative engineering and design services,
as well as project management to fix many varied industrial problems. Located
near Pittsburgh, PA, we have worked with companies from locations such as
Mexico, Canada, Slovakia, Japan, Chile, Venezuela, and many areas of the United
States.
Whether your project requires control systems, control panels, engineering --
electrical, mechanical, or software, we can deliver. Custom mathematical
algorithms and programming can be supplied as needed - including C#, Visual
Basic, C++, .Net or PLC ladder logic. CAD and design services are available
using AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, and Mathcad. Other areas of our expertise
include:

- heat transfer, cooling or quench system design & fluid flow

- process cleaning including alkali, brushes, rinse & forced air or roll drying
Platforms and architecture with which we have direct experience include Allen
Bradley SLC500, GE PLC -- Pac System (Rx3i & Rx7i) and 90 series, Siemens,
Mitsubishi, PLC Direct, Square D / Modicon 984 and Phoenix Contact.
Interconnectivity may include Ethernet, modbus, tcp/ip, genius, or RS485 as the
most common options.
A true solution may use off-the-shelf or custom sensor systems designed as
needed. Many of our applications also include custom wireless design using a
variety of transmitters or transceivers. In almost all instances, the proper
method of a process variable is crucial. Whether you need to measure pressure,
position, flow, acceleration, or vacuum, there may be a variety of ways to
capture this all-important data. The best choice usually involves a knowledge of
the entire system and a combination of disciplines (not just controls or
automation, for instance), and could involve encoders, force sensors, load cell,
laser, eddy current, capacitive or inductive technologies, LVDT’s or nuclear –
or even pressure drop or heat transfer issues! In addition, we have created
custom circuitry and algorithms for specialized applications that can’t or
shouldn’t be purchased outright.

lines such as Goulds, Ingersoll Rand, Lakos, Red Lion, Proface, Balluff, and
Pepperl & Fuchs.
